HAMILTON, Mont. - NBC Montana has a follow-up from a story we brought you in January about a fire that displaced a Hamilton business.
After fire destroyed its building on Highway 93 and Fairgrounds Road on Jan. 2, Global Wireless has been operating out of RVs in its parking lot.
It's been a tough year for the business, But it's continued to serve customers.
Now the insurance money has finally come through and the old fire-damaged building is being torn down.
The fire started from the inside, causing structural and smoke damage. Global lost much of its inventory.
Assistant manager Linda Parks said working out of an RV has been difficult. But the business has been tenacious in keeping its routine.
"This should be our last week tearing down the building," said Parks, "and then we should start construction in the following week. So right now we're going to continue working out of the RV. We've even set up a nice little tent outside for customers."
She said her company expects to be in its new building in mid-October or early November.
The old building was constructed in 1952 and has had multiple owners since then. Much of the lumber in the old building is being recycled.
