Daycare worker denies leaving child in van

MISSOULA, Mont. - A former daycare staff member accused of leaving a young child in a van last summer pleaded not guilty.

Michelle Asby appeared in Missoula County District Court earlier this week. She pleaded not guilty to failure to report child abuse charge.

Last July Asby, former Tot Town owner Melanie Hoke, and a third staff member Jennifer Nogel were all accused of leaving a four-year-old boy in a van while they went to a movie.

Last month Hoke pleaded not guilty to negligent endangerment and failure to report child abuse charges.

Nogel got a deferred sentence earlier this year. If the other two cases go to trial she'll have to testify against Asby and Hoke.
