MISSOULA, Mont. - Missoula County Commissioners signed off in support of adding another judge in district court.
Currently four judges oversee the Fourth Judicial District in Missoula County.
Judge Ed McLean said there have been four judges since 1981. At that time they were also responsible for Lake, Ravalli, and Sanders counties. In 1991 McLean said there was talk of adding a fifth judge, but instead Missoula became its own district.
Now, McLean says there is a large case load and more room with courthouse renovations. With support from the commission, McLean will make a brief presentation in front of the Montana District Court Council in Helena Wednesday.
The council will decide whether to add room in its budget for the judge and legislature will vote on that budget.
