C. Falls beats Dillon to claim state 'A' basketball title

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Columbia Falls Wildcats outlasted the Dillon Beavers 56-47 in the class 'A' state basketball title game Saturday night.

Two state basketball tournaments wrapped up Saturday night while the other six brackets will wait until next week to get underway.  Here's an updated look at scores from the boys class 'A' tournament in Great Falls and the boys class 'C' tournament in Butte.

State "A" Boys in Great Falls

In the boys class 'A' state title game Dillon and Columbia Falls faced off for the fourth time since 2009. The last time these two teams met in the state title game in 2012 Dillon beat Columbia Falls 54-39.

Saturday night was a different story. Columbia falls lead 31-26 at the break. Dillon kept the game through the 3rd quarter but the Wildcats still lead 43-37. Then late in the game the Wildcats were finally able to pull away and pick up the 56-47 win. Saturday's title was the first for Columbia Falls since taking home the hardware in 2011.

State "C" Boys in Butte

In the boys class 'C' state title game Box Elder and Westby-Grenora battled each other.

Box Elder lead by just one point at the half 30-29. But the Bears had a big start to the second half and increased their lead to 48-38 heading into the final quarter of play.

In the end Box Elder proved to be too strong winning 74-54. Not only did the Bears claim the class 'C' state basketball title, they also  finished the season a perfect 26-0.
