Bail set at $500K for robbery suspects

MISSOULA, Mont. - Two men charged in the attempted robbery and shooting of a convenience store clerk were ordered held on $500,000 bail each.

23-year-old Christopher Burch is charged with attempted deliberate homicide and robbery after a clerk was shot early Friday at Ole's County Store in East Missoula. His co-defendant, 24-year-old Preston Hanna of East Missoula, is charged with accountability to both charges.

Both made initial appearances in Justice Court on Monday.

Prosecutors say Hanna provided the gun and drove Burch to the truck stop, where Burch allegedly shot the clerk who refused his demand for money.

Both men have criminal records. Burch faces sentencing on Sept. 17 on a firearms theft conviction. Prosecutors say Hannah is a convicted sex offender from Utah who has been convicted of drunken driving in Missoula County.
