KALISPELL, Mont. - A big day in the Flathead Valley as Wings Regional Cancer Support started their 24 hour Radiothon. The non-profit kicked off the event early Thursday morning at the Sportsman Ski Haus in Kalispell.
The organization provides monetary support for folks who are undergoing cancer treatment. Assistance is aimed at transportation, housing, and meals for those who travel in and out of Montana for their care.
Since the first Radiothon, Wings has raised around $1.6 million for almost 2,400 people.
"How can you not help your neighbor? When someone says 'I have to go to Seattle, or New York, or I live in Libby and I have to go to Kalispell for treatment'... how can you say no," exclaimed Wings President Jennifer Schaffner. "If everyone in the valley gave a buck we'd be at $100,000 easily. Our goal is to make as much as possible because the more we make the more we give away."
