Whitefish's Voisin helps chances of clinching trip to Sochi

MISSOULA, Mont. - 15-year-old Whitefish native Maggie Voisin finished 6th in Saturday's final day of ladies' slopestyle Grand Prix Freeskiing Olympic qualifier in Park City, Utah.

Voisin didn't automatically qualify, but she still has a good chance to clinch a spot on the United States Olympic team. In Saturday's final Olympic qualifier Voisin posted a score of 80.20. The score was the best of her two runs, her first run scored a 77.60.

Missoula native Darian Stevens scored a 77.40 improving on her score from Friday's competition, but Stevens finished the day in 7th place.

On Friday Voisin just missed the podium with a score of 86.6 on her second run and finished 4th overall in the second-to-last ladies' slopestyle Grand Prix Freeskiing Olympic qualifier.

The official U.S. team will be announced Sunday evening after all the weekend's qualifying events have concluded. Four women slopestyle skiers are expected to be taken to Sochi.
