Whitefish Community Library receives charitable bequest

WHITEFISH, Mont. - The Whitefish Community Library recently established an endowment fund after thousands of dollars were left to the independent library. Harriet Glanville, a long-time Whitefish summer resident, left the charitable bequest to the library following her death in January 2012.

This fall, the library decided to place $100,000 into an endowment account with the Whitefish Community Foundation. Library Director Joey Kositzky said she remembers Glanville as a regular at the library.

"She used to use the library when we were above City Hall," Kositzky explained. "Its kind of neat. And I do remember her coming in. When her mother passed away she donated money. I believe we purchased large print books or books on tape then. And when she passed away she just remembered us."

Library staffers are confident the endowment account will help to ensure the future of the library. The Whitefish Community Foundation will assist the library with planning, investing, and administering the funds for their needs.
