Suspect accused in Hungry Horse shooting appears in court

KALISPELL, Mont. - A Hungry Horse woman appeared Tuesday in Flathead Justice Court after she allegedly shot and killed her boyfriend on Valentine's Day.

Pamela Ruth Haines, 55, is charged with deliberate homicide in the shooting death of Thomas Eugene Edwards, 71.

During the hearing Haines, who is on Social Security and has lived in the Flathead for less than six months, attempted to argue for a reduction in bond or a release on house arrest. The request was denied and bond is set at $500,000.

If convicted, she faces life in prison plus an additional 10 years because the offense was committed with a weapon.
