KALISPELL, Mont. - Flathead County's officials want to hear your thoughts on how to solve the budget problems facing the recycling program.
The program has been in the red for years now, and the Flathead County Solid Waste Board has turned to the public for input.
Today the Flathead County Solid Waste Board met with members of the public to hear ideas and solutions they have to either save or change the program.
One of the ideas brought up suggested working with businesses to help gather more recyclables to make the program profitable.
"When you look at this on a more national scale, this industry is growing," said Mayre Flowers of Citizens for a Better Flathead. "It's going through some ups and downs right now, but I think we as a county can network with other communities and find creative ways to move forward."
The recycling program will continue it's month to month contract with Valley Recycling before making any long term changes.
