New developments in rail park's future

KALISPELL, Mont. - The Flathead County Economic Development Authority is taking the next step for the Flathead County Rail Park northeast of Kalispell.

NBC Montana learned CHS Kalispell and Northwest Drywall are the last two remaining businesses that rely on rail service that spurs through the city. FCEDA looks to Willdan Financial Services to try and structure a deal with CHS to relocate to the rail park.

Officials tell us this is the next step in the rail park's future. Eventually Kalispell looks to pull out the tracks that run through downtown and redevelop the area surrounding the rail line.

"Because CHS is a big rail car user we have to figure out what the solution is to them. Once we figure that out we'll move to Northwest Drywall. But if we can't solve the CHS problem then that's the end of the story," explained FCEDA's Kim Morisaki.
