Montana Supreme Court hears arguments over Whitefish 'Donut'

MISSOULA, Mont. - The debate over the Whitefish donut spread south Friday, where the Montana Supreme Court heard arguments in Missoula from both sides.

The city of Whitefish and Flathead County have long fought each other for zoning jurisdiction over the 2-mile swath of land that surrounds Whitefish.

Now the state's highest court has been tasked with deciding which side has the ability to make land use decisions.

The justices heard testimony from all involved parties.

The public session was hosted by the University of Montana law school, and drew a packed house.
