Late rally close but not enough, Lady Griz beat Cats in OT

Lady Griz highlights vs MSU

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Bobcats proved that nothing is safe in a Brawl of the Wild rivalry contest, not even a 17-point second half lead.  However their impressive rally fell short of victory Monday night in Dahlberg Arena.

MSU outscored the Lady Griz 34-17 over the final 12 minutes of regulation to tie things up 67-67 and force overtime.  But in the extra period Montana took care of business to pull out the home victory 84-79.

With the victory, Montana (13-6, 7-3) now moves past Montana State (11-8, 6-4) to take sole possession of second place in the Big Sky Conference standings.  North Dakota (9-2, 14-6) remains the top team in the league.

Senior point guard Torry Hill led Montana with a game-high 23 points behind a 4-of-8 shooting performance from beyond the arc.  Junior Kellie Cole chipped in 18 points while junior forward Carly Selvig posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Jasmine Hommes led four Bobcats in double-figures with 17 points.  Kalli Durham added 15 while Ashley Brumwell and Ausha Cole each finished with 12 points.

The win wraps up a 4-game home stand for the Montana women in which they went unbeaten.  The Lady Griz will next be in action this Thursday, February 6, at Portland State.

MSU will also hit the road this week, their next contest is Thursday at Eastern Washington.
