Kalispell receives tourism grants

KALISPELL, Mont - The Montana Department of Tourism recently awarded several Montana cities with money through their Special Events Grants Program. Kalispell's Convention and Visitor's Bureau was awarded just over $60,000.

They'll be using the money for the second annual Montana Dragon Boat Festival in September as well as a new event - the Pond Hockey Border Showdown in February 2014.

CVB's Rob Brisendine said these two events will draw in more tourists during the slower seasons.

"[We're] really excited to see the support from the state of Montana.," said Brisendine. "They obviously understand the benefit of what these special events can do as far as economic impact into our valley."

The Special Events Grant Program encourages communities to develop and promote new hallmark events that stimulate and encourage economic growth.
