Kalispell food drive looks to end hunger statewide

KALISPELL, Mont. - NBC Montana, the Montana Food Bank Network, and Sleep City are hoping to end hunger in Montana. We'd like to thank folks in the Flathead for helping out during our Don't Let Montanan's Go To Sleep Hungry food drive Wednesday morning in Kalispell.

NBC Montana's meteorologist Adam Painter got the word out during NBC Montana Today that many of our neighbors are in a constant struggle with hunger - about 1 in 7 Montanans and nearly 46,000 kids. Every dollar donated equals 6 meals.

"There's always a feel good when you know you're helping your neighbor," said Montana Food Bank Network CEO Gayle Gifford. "To know they're doing it in such a widespread manner - we serve 200 partner agencies - and so their dollar will go a long way."

MFBN reports that since Feburary 2013, folks have donated 148 pounds of food and enough money for over 1600 meals.
