Flathead nonprofit promotes strong families through free, fun activities

EVERGREEN, Mont. - A Flathead family is making strides to provide free and affordable fun to everyone. James and Dana Blair struggled through the recession -- James lost his job, the couple could barely make ends meet, and couldn't afford to do anything with their three kids.

That's where the nonprofit Family Friendly Flathead was born. With a little luck, the Blairs secured a gym space behind a church in Evergreen and got to work. They've created events like Teen Tuesdays and Date Nights -- all offered at an affordable cost to folks who just want to get out and spend time with family.

"We barely signed our first six-month lease and we pick up additional sponsors every day who are getting on board and liking what we're doing," said James. "That's what it's all about. It's encouraging families to spend time together. If we build stronger families we build a stronger community."
