KALISPELL, Mont. - It was a very special New Year's Eve at the Flathead County Justice Center where two new District Court judges were sworn in on Monday morning.
Judge Ted Lympus and United States District Court Judge Dana Christensen helped perform the traditional robing ceremony for Judges Heidi Ulbricht and Robert Allison. In front of a packed courtroom filled with friends, family, and coworkers, each took an oath to uphold the constitutions of the United States, the state of Montana, and to faithfully perform all the duties of the 11th Judicial District.
Ulbricht is only the second female to be elected as a District Court judge for the Flathead, following in the footsteps of Judge Katherine Curtis - "I agree with Judge Curtis that it's nice to have a woman, female perspective along with the other three men to bring to the county."
"I've seen the county undergo profound changes in the course of my lifetime," said Judge Allison, "and I embrace those changes and intend to continue in the great tradition of the judges that have gone before me"
Ulbricht and Allison assume their District Court duties on January 7th.
