First Alert Forecast: Mostly sunny and warm

High pressure will influence our weather pattern today. Drier air limit storm development in Montana. However, an isolated storm is late this afternoon. Today's high temperatures will be warm as we climb into the 70s and mid 80s.

A trough of low pressure moves eastward Tuesday and will set off widespread thunderstorms.  Some of these storms will be strong with the potential for frequent lightning, gusty winds, and hail.  Tuesday will be another warm one. Highs will be in the upper 70s to low 80s with most areas of southwest Montana stuck in the mid 70s.

Temperatures begin to cool starting on Wednesday. Expect highs in the low to mid 70s by the end of the week.  The greatest cooling will be west of the divide.

The daily chance of showers and thunderstorms remain in the forecast through the end of the week.  If you have outdoor plans, stay alert by keeping our NBC Montana Severe Weather APP handy. It's FREE and you can find it on the APP Store or find the Android app on Google Play.
