Today's Severe Weather Threat Level is Low over most of the region, except in the Bozeman and Butte areas where Moderate impacts are expected due to thunderstorm potential.
A ridge of high pressure will continue to bring sunshine and very warm temperatures to the region through the weekend. Monsoonal moisture will move from the desert southwest into southwest Montana sparking off a few late day thunderstorms. The best location for thunderstorm development will be mainly south of Missoula, around Butte and Bozeman. These thunderstorms will produce gusty winds, frequent lightning, small hail, and brief heavy rain. There is a slight chance again Thursday and Friday afternoon in this same area.
Temperatures will remain warm through the end of the week. Highs in the 90s west of the divide around Missoula and Kalispell, with 80s in Butte and Bozeman.
Weather models are indicating a change toward cooler weather early next with temperatures cooling back to normal, in the upper 70s and 80s. There will be a slight chance of rain.
