WHITEFISH, Mont. - Whitefish's Farm to School program, sponsored by the Whitefish Lions Club, has moved from Don K Chevrolet to the corner of Seventh and Pine near the high school and Muldown Elementary.
For the last four years, seventh graders help with planting and eighth graders harvest the vegetables that are served in the school cafeterias. Lions Club members told us the project is a great way to teach kids about healthy food alternatives.
"Every bit of those vegetables that come out of the garden go into the lunch program," said President Greg Shaffer. "Jay even said they were using their last squash from last year. So it gets fully utilized. The excess we give it to the food banks."
