Families, pros go geocaching at FVCC

KALISPELL, Mont. - Hidden treasures dotted the campus of Flathead Valley Community College for a geocaching event Saturday.

Geocaching is an outdoor scavenger hunt, where folks use GPS coordinates to locate objects that have been hidden in the area. A beginner and challenging course awaited participants who plugged in coordinates and set off on an adventure around campus.

We caught up with one group who says its a great way to get outdoors and explore.

"I've never been geocaching before and she decided 'Hey they're doing it at FVCC why dot we try it out,'" said Dartagnin Kelley, who searched with his mother, Christina.

"It's just a great thing for the community and I'm really glad they did it," said David Girardot. "We go geocaching with the stuff online so it was really fun to come out and just have a bunch of them in one area."

FVCC estimates there are more than 3700 geocache items hidden within Kalispell's zip code, 59901, for folks to discover.
