KALISPELL, Mont. - Monday evening at City Hall in Kalispell, a new mayor and two new council members were sworn into office.
Before the meeting welcomed three new members, they said goodbye to the former mayor and two former council members. After the new members and Mayor Mark Johnson was sworn in, Johnson presided over his first meeting as the mayor.
Johnson says he's excited to be in office for the next 4 years and start getting busy at work. He explained what his main goal he's focusing on for the next year is.
"You know, the next year, it's really looking at Kalispell long-term. What do we need to do to redevelop the downtown area and expand business and make it more welcoming to visitors?" said Mark Johnson.
The mayor says that restoring the downtown area of Kalispell is going to take a lot of work, and probably not be completely finished in one year but he is optimistic and ready to get downtown busy again.
