KALISPELL, Mont. - The Mountain Madness Air Show will be coming to Kalispell this August. The event will run from the 30th to the 31st. It is the first time in nine years that the air show has come to Kalispell.
"The air show is a one of a kind event ya know, we only get the air show only every five or so years and in this case its been nine years," said Chris Parson, air show Director and Vice President of the Kalispell Chamber of Commerce.
This years event will feature the United States Air Force Thunderbirds, which includes the pilot of the number six jet, Kalispell native Captain Jason Curtis. The addition of the Thunderbirds has the chamber expecting 30,000 visitors, a welcome sign for local businesses.
"All the shows that they're doing in the area with the Kalispell Chamber and Whitefish and Bigfork, they're all bringing tons of people into town and it's great for all of us," said Mike Phillips, manager of Brannigans Pub.
Events like the air show are also a great chance of exposure for newer restaurants and shops in the area.
"Just gets more and more people in here that aren't familiar with us," said Phillips. "We're still relatively new in the area, we've only been here about a year and a half so you just keep getting more and more new people coming in."
