KALISPELL, Mont. -

A Kalispell man who called police to report he'd just stabbed his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend has denied two felony charges.

The Daily Inter Lake reports (http://bit.ly/15XPmPr ) 19-year-old Scott Peter Bolt Jr., is charged with two counts of assault with a weapon.

Prosecutors say Bolt told police he hid in the grass outside the apartment he shared with his now ex-girlfriend on July 17 until he saw her go inside with the other man. He says he grabbed a hunting knife, went inside and cut the man several times on the head and neck.

The man fled and Bolt called police.

A convenience store clerk called police when the victim came in, bleeding heavily.

Police officer Cory Clarke says one of the man's neck wound was about four inches long and an inch wide.
