Kalispell man denies charges in deputy assault
A Kalispell man has denied charges that he assaulted a deputy who responded to a reported domestic disturbance.
24-year-old Caleb Buzzell pleaded not guilty to assault on a peace officer and criminal possession of marijuana and hydrocodone.
Buzzell was arrested on Aug. 9 after he and his fiancee argued at a gas station and she asked the clerk to call police.
Charging documents say a deputy was talking to the woman, when a witness identified Buzzell. Prosecutors say Buzzell fled and an officer gave chase.
Prosecutors say Buzzell ripped the sleeve off of the deputy's shirt and then charged the deputy, hitting him in the face. Both men fell.
A witness helped restrain Buzzell, who was arrested.
