A 46-year-old Kalispell man is charged with two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence for a head-on crash that killed his passenger and the driver of the second vehicle.
Joseph Powell made an initial appearance in District Court Monday for the charges in the deaths of 43-year-old Brian Delaney and his passenger, 43-year-old Patrick Moulton.
The crash happened on Oct. 17. Powell was arrested when he was released from the hospital the next day. Court records say he agreed to speak with law enforcement and "admitted to drinking several beers" in the hours before the collision. A blood sample is being tested to determine Powell's blood-alcohol level.
Powell has not entered a plea. His arraignment is set for Nov .7.
