House shoppers acquire Missoula County mobile homes for back taxes
House hunters on the lookout for good deals came to a delinquent tax auction in Missoula.
The county sold off 13 of 30 mobile homes put on the block for back taxes. It collected $6,500 at auction. Mobile homes went for anywhere from $125 to $1,600.
Micheal Clark bid $175 for a 14x60-foot mobile home, sight unseen. The young father is a drywaller, and took a break from work to make the bid. His wife said it's a good thing.
"It's the start of something really big," said Emma Christman. "It means a lot for our family."
The family is renting right now, but eventually plans to move into their new mobile home.
Micheal said it "needs to be fixed up first." But they plan to make it livable.
