HAMILTON, Mont. -

An autopsy found a 25-year-old Hamilton man was stomped to death last month and prosecutors have filed charges against a Stevensville couple.

Ravalli County prosecutors are charging 25-year-old Richard Michael Sullivan with deliberate homicide in the death of Robert Thaut. Candace Sullivan is charged with accountability for deliberate homicide and conspiracy to commit deliberate homicide. They are scheduled to make initial court appearances on Wednesday.

Court records say Candace Sullivan called 911 at 11:20 p.m. on Jan. 28 and responding officers found Thaut was dead.

An autopsy determined Thaut died of blunt force trauma to his abdomen that resulted in internal bleeding. Court records say Thaut could have survived if he had received prompt medical attention.

Richard Sullivan reportedly told investigators that Thaut "sniffed" his wife, prompting the fight.
