HELENA, Mont. -

An 18-year-old Helena man was arrested on suspicion of arson by Lewis and Clark County authorities investigating a series of fires over the past week.
Sheriff Leo Dutton says Fredrick J. Maw V is suspected of setting a series of fires Wednesday afternoon near York, as well as a 55-acre fire in the Spokane Hills near Winston on Tuesday and another fire last week on Priest Pass west of Helena.
Dutton says he expects Maw to make an initial appearance in Justice Court on Thursday afternoon.
Helena National Forest supervisor Kevin Riordan says at least five fires were started Wednesday near York. Two were still burning Wednesday evening, one at 200 acres and another at 120 acres. The three other fires totaled less than 20 acres.
