GFalls teen denies infant assault charge
A 16-year-old Great Falls boy has denied a felony aggravated assault charge filed after his 6-week-old son was brought to the hospital with a broken leg and other injuries.
The Great Falls Tribune reports the boy entered his plea Thursday in District Court.
Charging documents say the baby had a broken femur, eight broken ribs, a broken clavicle along with retinal hemorrhaging in both eyes, bruising and abrasions.
Court records say the teen told police he got frustrated when the infant would not stop crying on June 4 and squeezed him really hard for about 30 seconds. The parents told medical personnel that the baby's leg was injured when the teen father tripped and fell on the baby the previous week.
The Associated Press is withholding the boy's name because he is a juvenile.
