Gallatin County Commission to vote on new commissioner
BOZEMAN, Mont. -

NBC Montana checked next week's Gallatin County Commission agenda and learned, commissioners could fill the open seat.

Commissioner Bill Murdock retired a month and a half ago, leaving the seat vacant.

We talked with Commissioner, Joe Skinner Friday to learn just how the process of replacing a commissioner works.
Skinner explained that the local Republican Party has given the commission office three names to be considered for the seat.

They plan to interview those candidates at Tuesday's meeting.

"The party gives us three names and we decide on one of the names. If we can't come to a decision, we'll ask the party for three more names," said Skinner.

Commissioner Skinner also told us that anyone considered, must be a registered voter and needs to have lived within the district for at least two years.

We will keep following this story and update you Tuesday on what happens.
