Fox unveils poster to combat human trafficking
LEWIS AND CLARK COUNTY
Attorney General Tim Fox is unveiling a campaign to fight human trafficking.
Fox said Thursday that 5,000 posters were printed and will be distributed around the state in places such as rest stops and hotels.
Fox said the crime is "one of the most egregious of human rights violations that can happen" in Montana. He said it is "modern-day slavery."
The posters are required under a new law sponsored by Democratic Rep. Jenifer Gursky of Missoula.
They contain the toll-free number of an anonymous and confidential national hotline to report human trafficking.
Lawmakers this year also passed another law which strengthens the penalties for such crimes.
