Flathead man sentenced for embezzlement

A Flathead man who pleaded no contest to Theft was sentenced on Thursday for embezzling money from the EMS service he worked for. Cody Westgard was given a six year deferred sentence, and he will have to pay restitution.

According to court records, Westgard resigned as treasurer of the Three Rivers EMS after board members asked him about missing money.

Court records say he was accused of embezzling money through methods like making cash withdrawals on an EMS account, and transferring money to himself with checks drawn on EMS accounts.

Three Rivers EMS is an emergency service in the Columbia Falls and outlying areas.
