Festival encourages families to get outside and on their feet
Some Bozeman folks kicked off summer with a walk through the woods, just northeast of town in Bridger Canyon at Bohart Ranch.
It was part of the first annual Schnee's Hiking Festival, designed to get families outside and on their feet.
The free event featured a vendor expo, the opportunity to demo boots and shoes and, of course, hiking.
Folks with Schnee's tell us they were inspired to have the festival after an employee took a trip to Europe and saw so many people walking.
They tell us, not enough families take advantage of the local trails around Bozeman.
"Hiking is such a family thing. You can get multiple generations and everybody can walk and let's use our feet and get out in the trees and get out in the fresh air and check out the views," explains Schnee's Footwear President Curt Smith.
Local non-profits were also there like, Montana Outdoor Science School, Art Splot and the Traveling School- an all-girls high-school study abroad program.
