HELENA, Mont. -

A 19-year-old East Helena man charged with setting a dozen fires in the Helena area in May is now charged with setting eight more fires in nearby Broadwater County at about the same time.
The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/12KVLuS ) Broadwater County Attorney Karla Mae Bosse charged Frederick James Maw V with eight counts of arson for fires set in the Spokane Hills area on May 14. The filings claim one of the fires destroyed two power poles with a total replacement cost of over $6,000.
Maw's initial appearance on the Broadwater County charges is set for Aug. 17.
Maw is free on $100,000 bond posted on the Lewis and Clark County charges. He has pleaded not guilty and his trial is scheduled for Aug. 26.
