Deer Lodge County Attorney Lewis Smith tells NBC Montana the Deer Lodge man accused of killing his wife last December filed a motion to withdraw his guilty plea.

Dennis Schowengerdt is accused of stabbing his wife Tina at their home on Saturday December 8th and leaving her to die.

Powell County Law Enforcement told us at the time Schowengerdt walked in to the police station in Deer Lodge the morning after Tina was murdered and confessed.

In April, Dennis Schowengerdt pleaded guilty saying he didn't think he could handle a trial.

Deer Lodge County Attorney Lewis Smith says Schowengerdt will be back in court Tuesday to ask for a new attorney.  A hearing on the request to withdraw his plea will happen at a later date.
