MISSOULA, Mont. -

Somebody has made off with an expensive, custom-made Griz rug at the University of Montana. The University has several of the special rugs.

The one that was stolen used to lay at the entrance of the Canyon Club, a private club for Griz supporters above Washington-Grizzly Stadium.

Somebody accessed the stadium club and walked off with the 10-feet by 6-feet carpet sometime between May 9 and May 16.

"It is a fairly unique piece of carpet," said Griz associate athletic director Chuck Maes. "So if you put it out somewhere, you're probably going to get caught."

Maes estimates the rug cost between $600 and $700.

He said if whoever took it wants to make an anonymous call and figure out a way to drop it off safely, there will be no questions asked.

The club just wants its rug back, said Maes.
