BOZEMAN, Mont. -

People young and old took to the streets in Downtown Bozeman earlier Tuesday morning, drawing with chalk on the sidewalks. Chalk on the Walk is part of the lead-up to the Sweet Pea Festival.

Little ones started their drawings along the sidewalks with their parents drawing flowers and other designs.

Most kids hung out along Rouse and East Main Streets between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.

One woman told NBC Montana she too could not resist partaking in drawing on the sidewalk.

Mary Higgs lives in Bozeman and says the city has a wide range of talented people.

"We've got so many artistic people here in Bozeman and it gives all of us a chance to come out and show what we have as part of our talents," said Higgs.

NBC Montana plans to broadcast live from the festival this Friday night.
