Central Valley Fire District received a report of a possible structure fire noticed by a Gallatin County Sheriff’s deputy at 02:03 Thursday morning in the area north of Cameron Bridge and Jackrabbit Roads. CVFD Engine 51 arrived at Russell Street in nine minutes to find a garage fully involved in fire and venting out of the roof. Fire crews were able to contain the fire to the garage; keeping it from spreading into the attached residence. Despite sub-zero temperatures, the fire was contained in thirty minutes. Crews remained on scene for 3 hours, completing extinguishment and overhaul.
The garage and contents valued at $33,000 was a total loss, however the residence and contents had no damage resulting in over $400,000 in saved property. One minor firefighter injury was reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
Mutual aid was received from Gallatin Gateway, Rae/Sourdough and Amsterdam Fire Departments, with assistance from the county sheriff’s department and American Medical Response.
