ROCKER, Mont. -

A major wreck leaves a truck upside down and underneath a semi truck west of Butte Friday night.

Montana Highway Patrol tells us the driver of the truck, a 65-year old man from Whitehall, died at the scene.

We're told just before 8:40 pm, the Ford truck attempted to pass the semi near mile marker 215, by Rocker on I-90.

While passing the semi, the Ford drifted over the line and crashed into the semi. MHP says the truck turned sideways in front of the semi, and the semi pushed the vehicle off the right side of the road and through the guard rail.

Witnesses who drove by tell NBC Montana the truck ended up underneath the cab of the semi, upside down.

The driver of the semi was not injured. The man's name has not been released yet.
