BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Officers with the Bozeman Police Department say they're paying special attention to fireworks and Music on Main this Fourth of July holiday.

They say a lot of their officers are off work for the paid holiday, but it's not too different than any other summer week day.

Nonetheless, patrol police have the option of signing up for overtime, so they can have extra officers on shift for Music on Main.

They can also put their names on a list for STEP overtime or Specialized Traffic Enforcement Overtime, focusing their efforts on seat belts, DUIs and speeding.

"It allows us to put more people in the downtown area during the Music on Main so, a lot of sign up is Music on Main and then, it allows the officers who are on shift, who are on the street that would normally be working, with all the other issues in the city limits," says Bozeman Police Patrol Sergeant Jason LaCross.
