Bail set at $1M for Bozeman man accused of raping 8-year-old girl
A Bozeman man is accused of breaking in to a closed garage early Friday morning and raping an 8-year-old girl.
Deputies arrested 44-year-old Russell Bullock outside a home off South 19th after responding to reports of a man trying to steal a car.
According to court documents, the alleged victim's mother returned home from the fair Thursday night and left her daughter sleeping in her SUV in a closed garage.
The mother told deputies about an hour after she arrived home her son woke her up and told her he heard his sister yelling from the garage. The mother says when she went in to the garage she found a man wearing only a white t-shirt.
Court documents say she took her daughter inside, locked the door and called for help. When deputies arrived they say they found Bullock hiding in tall grass near the home.
Doctors at Bozeman Deaconess Hospital examined the alleged victim and found injuries consistent with being assaulted.
When questioned by authorities, Bullock reportedly told investigators he had been at Music on Main. Bullock said he was picked up by four other men who took him to an area bar to buy alcohol.
Court papers say Bullock told deputies the four men beat him up and tossed him out of the vehicle at an unknown location.
Russell Bullock appeared in Gallatin County Justice Court this morning. He's been charged with sexual intercourse without consent and burglary. The judge set bail at $1,000,000.
