BOZEMAN, Mont. -

As we prepare to ring in the new year most folks are working on taking down that Christmas tree. In Bozeman, the city's forestry department has set up four locations for people to drop off their trees.

Bozeman has been recycling trees for the past 20 years. Last year they took in an estimated 80,000 to 90,000 pounds of trees.

Ryan Stover explained they can only take the tree, any decorations need to be pulled off before it's dropped off.

"We would appreciate it if you only put Christmas trees in and not wreaths or garland, and things that would damage the equipment and we cant recycle, so no garland no wire and no artificial trees," said Stover.

The tree recycling depots are located throughout Bozeman and will be open through mid-February.
