BOZEMAN, Mont. -

Bozeman city leaders will look at a possible land exchange with Montana Department of Transportation to provide space for the future new Law and Justice Center.

Officials are looking at is at the intersections of North Rouse and East Tamarack, just blocks away from downtown Bozeman.

Currently, the MDT sits on eight acres and City Manager Chris Kukulski says the Bozeman Police Department could make better use of the space.

"One of the areas we need to expand is evidence area, where we take in evidence from crimes. The records is another area, interview rooms to help deal with crimes," said Kukulski.

City officials tell us the potential location would allow police to have more access to transportation routes. In addition, officials say it would provide officers with better visibility of surrounding areas and would put them closer to other city offices.
