GREAT FALLS, Mont. -

A Box Elder woman has been sentenced to just over five years in prison for twisting a 9-month-old child's arms and legs, fracturing bones in all four limbs.

The U.S. Attorney's Office says District Judge Dana Christensen sentenced 57-year-old Martha Mae Mitchell Tuesday during a hearing in Great Falls.

She earlier pleaded guilty to assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Prosecutors say Mitchell became frustrated when the baby wouldn't stop crying on Jan. 23. She told law enforcement officers she twisted the baby's legs and arms, causing the fractures. The baby was hospitalized for a week.

Prosecutors say the baby had other injuries that might not be attributable to Mitchell.
