BILLINGS, Mont. -

A Billings police dog that escaped from an officer's residence and bit a woman on the chin when she tried to read his tag has been cleared to return to work.

Billings Police Sgt. Clyde Reid tells the Billings Gazette (http://bit.ly/1pTmIYs) in a story on Saturday that the Belgian Malinois named Kooko is back on the job.

Police say Kooko escaped from officer Bret Becker's home on Aug. 11 with a family pet.

A woman found the dogs at about 5 p.m. on Aug. 11, but was bitten when she tried to read Kooko's tag.

The woman was taken to a hospital for treatment but the extent of her injuries is not clear.

Kooko was placed in quarantine during an investigation.

Reid says Becker was given a policy violation warning.
