BILLINGS, Mont. -

A 56-year-old Billings man has been sentenced to 55 years in prison for stomping on another man's head, causing fatal injuries.

The Billings Gazette reports District Judge Susan Watters sentenced Eldon Otter Little Elk Wednesday for the Nov. 24 attack on 23-year-old Andrew Stoll. Stoll died on Dec. 16. Little Elk pleaded guilty to deliberate homicide in June.

Watters imposed the sentence recommended by prosecutors, who said Little Elk had a criminal record dating back to 1978.

A witness said Little Elk knocked Stoll to the ground and stomped on his head. The witness said Little Elk went back inside, then came back out and punched Stoll and stomped on his head again.

Court records said Little Elk told an officer that Stoll "shouldn't have been messing with an Indian girl."
