BILLINGS, Mont. -

A Billings man who was convicted of assaulting an officer in 2011 is charged with assaulting two Billings police officers as they arrested him on outstanding warrants,

The Billings Gazette reports 28-year-old Joshua David Gardipee appeared in Justice Court Tuesday where his bail was set at $75,000.

Prosecutors say two officers were sent to a Billings motel Sunday afternoon to check on a report that Gardipee was there.

Officers found him in a vehicle. While an officer was checking him for weapons he pulled away and one of the officers saw a gun in his pocket.

Charging documents say officers struggled with Gardipee and that he tried to grab the loaded revolver. Gardipee was hit twice with a stun gun before a third officer was able to get him handcuffed.
