BELGRADE, Mont. -

A major construction project is set to begin on Monday in Belgrade. When it is done in the summer of 2015, drivers will have easier access to the airport, along with new intersections.

With the possibility of delays, we spoke with area businesses to see if they are worried about the construction. The Super 8 on Jackrabbit Lane in Belgrade is located less than a block away from the interstate. Jennifer Carlson works there and tells us her thoughts on the upcoming construction.

"I have a feeling it might slow us down just a little bit just because people don't want to deal with that much construction," said Carlson.

One thing that will slow down for certain is travel through Belgrade. We wanted to get the facts right and break down the project. This construction project has four phases. The first one begins on Monday and it goes all the way through early summer 2015. MDOT says the first couple of weeks there will be little impact on travelers. However by early to mid September, you can expect interstate traffic to be reduced to one lane through the work zone. You will also see Alaska Frontage Road closed to traffic between Rock Road and Cameron Bridge Road.

We checked in with other businesses in the area to see how they feel about the construction. Kaes VanderJagt has worked at the Yellowstone Harley Davidson for 10 years, and has seen his fair share of construction projects.

"Who knows business you do loose because, ah well we missed that exit so we will just go to the next dealership down the road," said VanderJagt

For now it is business as usual on this portion of I-90, but drivers take notice, change is on it's way.

The MDOT wants to remind drivers to watch for work crews and equipment as well as work zone speed limit signs.
