Attorney in homicide case plans World Cup viewing

MISSOULA, Mont. - The Missoula law firm that is representing a man charged with killing a German exchange student in his garage announced it planned to host a live showing of the World Cup soccer match between the U.S. and Germany at a city park on Thursday morning.
Paul Ryan and Associates is representing Markus Kaarma, who is charged with shooting 17-year-old Diren Dede in May. Kaarma argues the shooting was in self-defense.
Dede played soccer at Missoula Big Sky and his former team in Hamburg played a charity match to help the family pay for the funeral.
Ryan says on Tuesday the game's showing has nothing to do with Kaarma's defense, and he was considering canceling it after realizing people might make that connection.
An omnibus hearing in Kaarma's case was scheduled for Wednesday.
